Super Loud Sam vs Birdman Page 6

As the Cobbler car stopped on Pip Street, Bobby reached for the basket next to him. Inside, Conkers, his cat, was feeling cat sick, which is like car sick, only for cats.

  “Meow blurrrgghhh,” said Conkers.

Conkers was as black as the devil’s armpit with shiny eyes, like torches down a well. If he had been a human, he would have been a stuntman or an international footballer who was also amazing at playing the violin. He was just cool. Can pets be cool? Yes, they can. Conkers was proof. Best of all, Conkers always moved with Bobby. Unlike the friends Bobby had to leave behind, Conkers was portable.

As Bobby and Conkers got out of the car, neither realized that they were being watched. And not just by the pigeon resting in a tree nearby. From a front room on Pip Street, nosy eyes ogled the new arrivals. Who was this mysterious peeper, staring at our new friend and his handsome moggy? And what was he or she muttering quietly? What’s that you say, mystery peeper? What is it?
